The Reddit Post API for single-post lookups

The YepAPI Reddit Post API returns one Reddit post as structured data. Send a post URL to /v1/reddit/post and get its title, author, subreddit, body, score, upvote ratio, comment count, flair, and media, at $0.01 per call.

Use it whenever you have a link and need the data behind it: previews, engagement tracking, archiving, or as the first step before reading the comments.

What does the Reddit Post API return?

A single Post object: id, name, title, author, subreddit, permalink, url, domain, selftext, score, upvote_ratio, num_comments, num_crossposts, created_utc, created_at, flair, is_self, is_video, over_18, spoiler, stickied, locked, thumbnail, images, and video_url. It is the same shape every Reddit feed endpoint uses.

Build Reddit link previews and trackers

When a user pastes a Reddit link, call /v1/reddit/post and render the title, subreddit, score, and thumbnail. To track a post's performance, call it on a schedule and record score and num_comments over time. Then use the Reddit Comments API with the same URL to pull the discussion.

Reddit Post API pricing: $0.01 per call

Every call costs a flat $0.01 and failed calls are free. There is no monthly minimum, no seat fee, and no Reddit app to register: you only need a YepAPI key. Post lookups are cached for 30 minutes, and a removed post (404) costs nothing.

Accepted URLs

Pass a full post URL such as https://www.reddit.com/r/Python/comments/1xennpj/... Old Reddit URLs work too. Short redd.it links are rejected with a VALIDATION_ERROR, so expand them first.
