Why builders choose YepAPI

✓

No Reddit app, no OAuth

You do not need a Reddit API key, a registered app, or an OAuth token flow. One YepAPI key works on every Reddit endpoint, and on our SEO, SERP, scraping, social, and AI APIs too.

✓

Reddit API pricing: $0.01 per call

Every Reddit endpoint costs a flat $0.01 per call, failed calls are free, and there is no monthly minimum. New accounts get $5 in free credit, which is 500 calls.

✓

Structured JSON, not scraped HTML

Posts, comments, subreddits, and users come back in one consistent shape across every endpoint, with cursor pagination. A Reddit scraper's output without running a scraper.

✓

Rate limits and caching handled

Requests are paced and cached on our side (feeds for 15 minutes, posts for 30, profiles for an hour), so you do not have to build Reddit API limits handling into your app.

Same key, same request shape, on every Reddit endpoint.

A Reddit API for posts, comments, subreddits, and users

YepAPI's Reddit API gives you 15 endpoints for public Reddit data: keyword search, subreddit feeds and profiles, full comment trees, user profiles and history, and r/popular. Every endpoint is a POST request with a JSON body and returns clean JSON in the same envelope, at $0.01 per call.

It is built for the things people actually use Reddit data for: brand monitoring, market and product research, community discovery, AI training and retrieval, and social listening. Search a keyword, open the threads that matter, read every comment, and check who posted them, all with one API key.

The data is public Reddit data. YepAPI is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Reddit.

What is the Reddit API?

The Reddit API is a way to read Reddit data from code instead of a browser. Reddit's own Data API requires registering an app, handling OAuth, and accepting its developer and commercial terms. YepAPI's Reddit API returns the same public data (posts, comments, subreddits, and user profiles) with one API key and no app registration. Start with the Reddit Search API, then open threads with the Reddit Comments API.

Do I need a Reddit API key?

No. You only need a YepAPI key, which you create in the dashboard after signing up. There is no Reddit developer app to register, no client id or secret, and no token refresh logic. Send the key in the x-api-key header and call any endpoint, for example the Subreddit Posts API or the Reddit User API.

Reddit API pricing and cost

Every Reddit endpoint costs $0.01 per call. There is no subscription, no monthly minimum, and no charge for failed calls. Monitoring 20 keywords every hour costs about $4.80 a day; pulling 1,000 pages of posts or comments costs $10. You start with $5 in free credit and no card, so you can test the whole Reddit API before paying anything.

A Reddit scraper without the scraping

Scraping Reddit yourself means parsing pages that change, handling blocks, and writing pagination logic for every listing. The YepAPI Reddit API returns structured posts and comments directly. Use the Subreddit Posts API as a subreddit scraper, the Reddit Comments API as a Reddit comment scraper, and the User Comments API for a user's history.

A Pushshift alternative for Reddit data

Pushshift used to be the go-to source for bulk Reddit data, but access has been restricted since 2023. For live data (current posts, comment threads, user history, and trending content) YepAPI's Reddit API is a practical Pushshift alternative: search with the Reddit Search API, walk subreddit feeds, and track what is trending with the Reddit Popular Posts API.

Frequently asked questions

The Reddit API lets you read Reddit data (posts, comments, subreddits, and user profiles) from code. YepAPI's Reddit API covers it in 15 endpoints: search, subreddit info, feeds, comments, rules, similar subreddits, single posts, comment trees, user profiles, user posts and comments, r/popular, and popular subreddits. Every endpoint returns JSON and costs $0.01 per call.

No. You do not need to register a Reddit app or implement OAuth. Create a YepAPI key in the dashboard, send it in the x-api-key header, and call any Reddit endpoint. The same key also works for our Twitter / X, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, SEO, SERP, and AI APIs.

Every YepAPI Reddit endpoint costs $0.01 per call, with no subscription and no monthly minimum. Failed calls are free. New accounts get $5 of free credit with no card required, which covers 500 calls.

Every new YepAPI account gets $5 in free credit, enough for 500 Reddit API calls. It is not a capped free tier: the credit works on every endpoint, and when it runs out you pay $0.01 per call with no minimum.

You do not need to manage Reddit's rate limits yourself. We pace requests and cache responses on our side: feeds and comments for 15 minutes, single posts for 30 minutes, subreddit and user profiles for an hour, and subreddit rules for 24 hours. In a heavy burst you may occasionally get a 429 RATE_LIMITED_UPSTREAM response; retry after a few seconds.

Yes. The Reddit Comments API returns the full comment tree of any post, with nested replies, scores, authors, and timestamps, sorted by top, new, controversial, old, or Q&A. The Subreddit Comments API returns the latest comments across a whole community, and the User Comments API returns a user's comment history.

For live Reddit data, yes. Pushshift access has been restricted since 2023. YepAPI returns current posts, comments, user history, and trending content on demand. It is not a historical archive of every Reddit post ever made; it returns what Reddit currently shows publicly.

Yes. Every endpoint is a plain HTTPS POST with a JSON body, so requests.post with an x-api-key header is all you need. There is no SDK to install, and the same code pattern works for every Reddit endpoint.

No. YepAPI is an independent service that returns publicly available Reddit data. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit. You are responsible for using the data in line with the laws and terms that apply to your use case.
