The Subreddit Posts API: a subreddit scraper that returns JSON

The YepAPI Subreddit Posts API returns the post feed of any public subreddit. Send a subreddit and a sort to /v1/reddit/subreddit-posts and get back posts with title, author, score, upvote ratio, comment count, body text, flair, and media, plus a cursor for the next page. Each call costs $0.01.

It replaces a home-made subreddit scraper: no HTML parsing, no proxy rotation, no OAuth app, and the same output shape every time.

What is a subreddit scraper?

A subreddit scraper collects the posts from a Reddit community so you can analyze or store them. Scraping the pages yourself means fighting layout changes and blocks. The Subreddit Posts API gives you the same feed as clean JSON: one POST request per page, with the same sort tabs Reddit shows (hot, new, top, controversial) and a cursor to keep going.

Build a subreddit monitor

Poll /v1/reddit/subreddit-posts with sort=new every 15 minutes, keep the ids you have already seen, and push new posts to Slack, a CRM, or an AI classifier. For trend reports, call it with sort=top and time=week to get the most upvoted posts of the week. Then open any post with the Reddit Comments API.

Subreddit Posts API pricing: $0.01 per call

Every call costs a flat $0.01 and failed calls are free. There is no monthly minimum, no seat fee, and no Reddit app to register: you only need a YepAPI key. A page of posts is one call, so walking 10 pages of a feed costs $0.10. Feeds are cached for 15 minutes.

Sorts and time ranges

sort=hot (default) mirrors the subreddit front page, sort=new is best for monitoring, and sort=top or sort=controversial accept time=hour, day, week, month, year, or all. The subreddit field takes python, r/python, or a full URL.
