Features

✓
Keyword search across communities

Send any topic and get the subreddits Reddit associates with it, ranked the way Reddit's own community search ranks them.

✓
Subscriber counts and metadata

Every result includes subscribers, created_at, over_18, type (public, restricted, and so on), lang, url, icon, and banner.

✓
Cursor pagination

Page through long result lists with the cursor field returned on every response.

✓
Same Subreddit shape everywhere

Results use the same Subreddit object as the Similar Subreddits and Popular Subreddits APIs, so one parser covers all three.

The Subreddit Search API for finding Reddit communities

The YepAPI Subreddit Search API finds Reddit communities by keyword. Send a topic to /v1/reddit/search-subreddits and get back matching subreddits with name, title, description, subscriber count, creation date, NSFW flag, language, icon, and banner, at $0.01 per call.

It is the starting point for any Reddit research workflow: find the communities first, then pull their posts, comments, and rules with the other Reddit endpoints.

What does the Subreddit Search API return?

A list of Subreddit objects plus a cursor. Each object carries id, name, title, description, subscribers, active_users, created_utc, created_at, over_18, type, lang, url, icon, and banner. That is enough to rank communities by size, filter out NSFW ones, and render a clean community picker without a second request.

Build a community finder

Let users type a topic, call /v1/reddit/search-subreddits, sort the results by subscribers, and show each community's icon and description. When they pick one, call the Subreddit Posts API for its feed and the Subreddit Rules API to check what is allowed before posting.

Subreddit Search API pricing: $0.01 per call

Every call costs a flat $0.01 and failed calls are free. There is no monthly minimum, no seat fee, and no Reddit app to register: you only need a YepAPI key. Each page of results is one call, and results are cached for 15 minutes.

Combine with Similar Subreddits

Search gives you communities that match a keyword. The Similar Subreddits API gives you communities related to one you already know. Using both is the quickest way to map every community around a niche.
